Energy Efficiency for Customers

  • Consumers Energy: Lists energy efficiency rebates and incentives offered by Consumers for residents and businesses, as well as an online energy audit tool and other tips and resources.

  • DSIRE: A national database of state, utility, and federal policies and incentives that promote renewable energy and energy efficiency for business and residential consumers.

  • DTE: Lists energy efficiency rebates and incentives offered by DTE for residents and businesses, as well as an online energy audit tool and other tips and resources.

  • EnergyStar.gov: This is the official website for the federal Energy Star program, which recognizes products that meet high standards for energy efficiency.

  • Michigan Energy Office: The Bureau of Energy Systems promotes energy efficiency and renewable energy resource development for residential, business, and institutional consumers. The website has links to state programs, tax incentives, and appliance rebates as well as grant and RFP opportunities, workshops, and seminars.

  • Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC): Provides links to programs and resources for energy efficiency in the state of Michigan, including Public Act 295 of 2008, the Energy Optimization (EO) Collaborative, the self-directed EO plan, and the Michigan Energy Measures Database (used to estimate energy savings).

  • Michigan Energy Assistance Directory: Lists private and public programs that offer energy assistance and a county-by-county listing of utilities, programs, and resources.

  • Property Improvement Program This program administered by the Michigan State Housing Development Authority offers low-rate loans for projects that improve the value and safety of existing homes. Interest rates are adjusted for income.

  • Tax Incentives Assistance Project: Sponsored by a coalition of nonprofit groups, government agencies, and other organizations in the energy efficiency field, this website offers information to help business and residential consumers make use of the federal income tax incentives for energy efficient products and technologies.

  • Michigan Utilities’ Energy Optimization Programs and Incentives: An interactive mapping tool to identify incentives offered by utility energy optimization (efficiency) programs in your area.

  • Weatherization Assistance Program: The Weatherization Assistance Program offers free weatherization services for low-income homeowners. Contact your local Community Action Agency for more information.
